| Professor Andrew Cossins Andrew Cossins is Professor of Animal Genomics and co-Director of the Advanced Genomic Facility at the University of Liverpool. His research extends to post-genomic and reverse genetic approaches to understanding the mechanisms of response to environmental stress (cold, hypoxia, ecotoxicological), and development of novel biomolecular detection techniques. |

| Professor Mehul Dattani Mehul Dattani is the Academic and Clinical Lead in Endocrinology at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children and the Institute of Child Health. Professor Dattani’s research group is currently studying pituitary development in humans, with a view to identifying novel genes implicated in the aetiology of congenital hypopituitarism and related disorders. |

| Professor John Speakman Scientific Organiser for the May 2010 Workshop John Speakman is currently Chair of the Aberdeen Centre for Energy Regulation and Obesity. He specializes in the quantification of energy expenditure and gain. His work spans the study of wild animals to obese humans, in particular focusing on the evolutionary context of the obesity epidemic and the role of physical activity as a causal factor (or not) for obesity. |
